Off to the park!

The weather is kind of “iffy”: showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. Chance of precipitation is 70%, but the sun is out now so let's get a move on! We'll stay close to the vehicle just in case the skys open up and visit The Liti.tz Sprin.gs Pa.rk today.

As you enter the park you are greeted by the splashing sound of this water fountain. It's such a nice tranasition from the traffic noise to the peacefulness of the park.



There is a stream that winds through-out the park that is fed from a natural spring. This is a great attraction for the many ducks that wade in it and call the park “home”. Many people are tempted to "wade" in the stream too when it's hot outside, however there is NO WADING! Glad to see that the ducks are abiding by the rules. LOL


As we follow the walking path, you have many choices of which foot bridge you want to use to enter the pinic area. One of my favorite is this little arched stone one.

In addition to it's beautiful steam, it's shaded walkways and it's well-kept natural environment, Liti.tz Sprin.gs Pa.rk was enhanced by an elegant carving of a Lion's Head by one of it's Liti.tz navites, Juli.us August.us Beck.
The carving was stragtegically place to the right of the springhead. Choosing as his model, the world famous "Li.on of Lucer.ne" in Swi.tzerland, Be.ck had hoped to incise all of the head, the shoulder & the forepaws of the "king of beasts." However, because of the extreme hardness of the rock, ruining his chisels, he adandoned his original plans.

On April 26, 2005 it was discovered that the priceless lion's head carving had been defaced beyond recognition. After careful consideration it was determined that tho restore the original lion's head would not be feasible. Realising that dream of Mr. Be.ck, it was decided that a full lion, symbolic of the "Li.on of Lucer.ne" be carved out of granite and placed directly above the original lion's head. This full lion completes Juli.us August.us Be.ck's original dream.

Throughout the summer there are many events that take place in the park. There are craft shows, Motorcycle shows, movie nights, a BIG 4th of July event (Liti.tz is VERY patriotic!), evening vespers service and much more.
