Leaving for Paris

We've had a wonderful time in London and saw all the sights we hoped to, even some that we hadn't planned thanks to Ed and Phyllis. Let's see if I can catch you up on the last few days.

Sunday we took a river boat tour on the Thames River. Most of the sights we saw we also saw on the Big Bus tour. But it was fun to see them from a different view. A quick trip on the tube uptown for a lunch of Fish & Chips with mushy peas (yes I gave the peas a try) then it was off to Harrods, London's VERY expensive mall! We wondered through the mall, which is much more to look at than our mall back home, and bought some fancy, expensive chocolates. 6 pieces and 1 bar cost about $14! Ooh but it was good! Then another trip on the tube and we were in Covent Garden Market which consisted of street performers, vendors and little shops.

Monday we traveled 2 hours to Warwick Castle. Now if there is one thing I've learned while in London it would be not to try and pronounce the cities and places here. The locals call it Warick. Well la de ta. So Warick it was. From there we traveled to Strattford upon Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare. We wondered the little town and found a quaint little tea shop that served a WONDERFUL Cream Tea! Then it was home for some Indian take out for supper.

Tuesday was our Loyds of London and The Tower Tour. Phil threw in some business and we all had the privilege of joining. What a building! From the outside it looks like an oil rig. It was designed to have all the pluming, elevators and such on the outside while the interior is all offices. We got into some pretty secure places and got to see some really cool things. We had a bit to eat thanks to Loyds and enjoyed a fabulous view of the Thames River and The Tower, the oldest working castle. This is also were we got to see the Crown Jewels. Sorry there is not photos allow :-( Now I'm not talking your normal costume jewelery here, these are the crowns, septets and dishes used by the kings and queens!

Well that's the last few days in a very small nutshell. Tomorrow it's off to Paris via the high speed train. We'll be there touring on our own for 2 days. So I'll talk to you when I can.
