Yesterday for part of Erica's birthday celebration the Shirk family (Ed, Phyllis, Hilda, Wes, Phil, Renee, Tyler, Nichole, mother & dad) took a boat cruise up & down the Rhein River. Words and pictures can not discribe how beautiful it was, dispite the warmer weather! It was fun to catch up with each other and we even had a history lesson of the old castles along the way.
We are finding that there is just not enough time to visit everyone who wants to see us. It's Friday already and for the next 2 days we are still booked solid! Today we will have a birthday meal for Erica at a German restaurant. Just to give you an idea of how meals work here, the meal will begin around 12:30, we will eat way more than we need, there will be lots of talking and stories (in French, German or Alasication), we'll take a break and tour the local vineyards then come back to the restaurant for cake and coffee. The meal will end around 7:00 p.m.! No fast served meals around here!!
