The comforts of home

Well, we have been home for exactly 16 hours, had a good nights rest in our own beds in our air-conditioned home and drank ICE COLD WELL WATER for the first time since we left 3 weeks ago! European countries don't offer ice for your drinks unless you ask, and the bottled water comes 2 ways, stilled or with gas! Yes I said with gas! :-) Water with gas is like our Seltzer water here but overly it's preferred water there because it's offered all the time. As you can guess we all had some fun when we needed to order water!


Yesterday was VERY LONG! Our flight from Frankfurt airport to Charles-de-Gaulle, Paris left at 10:40 a.m. so we were on the road by 7 a.m. Phil's cousin, Gehard took us and he thought that Phil's speed of 100 km wasn't a true feeling of what is was like to be in the autobon so he reached speeds of 190 km. Do the conversion and that's 120 mph here!! My eyes were closed :-( while Tyler had a smile on his face. The really crazy thing was we were still being passed! The autobon moto is, you drive as fast as your car can, not the true speed your heart desires.



Once at the airport we were going through security and Phil remembered that he put his souvenir bottle of wine in his carry on bag. Yes - dumb move as he needed to get rid of it :-( So note to self and others coming home with wine: PACK IT IN YOUR CHECKED LUGGAGE! Lesson learned. Maybe someone can share with him.


Monday was a holiday for Paris so the airport had an overload of air traffic which delayed us by50 minutes. To make a nightmare of a story short, we got off our 1st flight at 12:48 to RACE through the airport to make our 2nd flight which took off at 1:10 p.m. ! Ask us about our experience the next time you see us. The most important thing is WE ARE HOME!


Today will be a "catch-up day" as there is tons laundry to do (which will take 1/2 the time it did in Europe - yeah), grass to be bailed, cobwebs to destroy (the spiders moved in while we were gone), weeds to pull in the garden, dust to collect - however Oreo (the Bohlen's cat that we will be caring for until August 1) has been a great help! He is just a tad uncomfortable in his new surrounding and has been hiding under and behind things pulling out the dust bunnies that have collected. And since I need to cook for the first in 3 weeks food be bought.


This blogging thing is allot of fun and I think that I'll keep it up for the out-of-town family and friends. I can't promise that it will be as interesting, as our BIG vacations are over for a while. But we still have some exciting events coming up!
